Building a Dormitory at Ban Huai Kong Po School

About this project

Ban Huai Kong Po School, located in Mae Hong Son Province, Thailand, is a rural school serving 62 students with the support of 11 teachers. However, the school faces a critical shortage of adequate dormitory facilities. The existing dormitory consists of a single room accommodating eight girls, which also doubles as the teachers’ quarters. This lack of space compromises both student welfare and teacher living conditions, highlighting the urgent need for a dedicated dormitory. Expanding the dormitory will provide a safer, more comfortable environment for students and improve overall living and learning conditions at the school.

Recognizing the urgent need, the IVL Foundation is partnering with iCare Thailand Foundation to construct a dedicated female dormitory at the school. Once completed, the new facility will provide safe, appropriate accommodation for up to 20 girls each year, significantly improving their access to education in a secure and supportive environment. The dormitory is expected to be completed by August 2025, marking a meaningful step toward ensuring better living and learning conditions for students in this underserved community.
